Umana Venezia used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Nancy 70-67 on Wednesday night. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 46-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Sluc Nancy outrebounded Umana Venezia 42-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Greek swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Umana Venezia's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Florent Pietrus (202-81) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Morris Curry (181-87, college: Providence) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Umana Venezia will face Spirou Charleroi (#5) at home in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against CAI Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
