Regular Season Round 3: Steaua CSM - Banvit BK 64-78

There was a small surprise when Turkish Banvit BK (1-2) beat Romanian Steaua CSM (1-2) in Bucuresti 78-64 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Steaua CSM was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banvit BK dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Steaua CSM's 24. It was a good game for French Adrien Moerman (203-88) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. American-Polish guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Banvit BK's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Titus Nicoara (202-88, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Steaua CSM. Banvit BK will face Trabzonspor on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Steaua CSM will play against Aris (#3) in Thessaloniki and hope to win that game.
