Regular Season Round 4: Valencia - Umana VE 88-59
Date: November 3, 2015
There was no surprise when 4th ranked Italian Umana Venezia (2-2) was outplayed on the road by top-ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (4-0) 88-59 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Valencia Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Valencia Basket outrebounded Umana Venezia 35-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who added 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Phil Goss (188-83, college: Drexel) responded with 14 points and American-Italian swingman Jeffrey Viggiano (197-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group C with 4-0 record. Loser Umana Venezia dropped to the third place with two games lost. Valencia Basket will face bottom-ranked Spirou Charleroi (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Umana Venezia will play against the league's second-placed CAI Zaragoza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
