Regular Season Round 4: Aris - Steaua CSM 70-66

Rather predictable result in Thessaloniki where third ranked Greek Aris (3-1) defeated bottom-ranked Romanian Steaua CSM (1-3) 70-66 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Steaua CSM won third quarter 24-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aris won last quarter 20-17. Steaua CSM was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Okaro White (206-92, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and the other American import guard Jerel McNeal (191-87, college: Marquette) who added 8 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Aris' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Titus Nicoara (202-88, agency: Interperformances) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian point guard Aleksandar Rasic (195-84, agency: Beo Basket) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Aris moved-up to second place in Group D. Loser Steaua CSM stay at the bottom position with three games lost. Aris will face Banvit BK (#5) in Balikesir in the next round. Steaua CSM will play at home against Buducnost and hope to win that game.
