Regular Season Round 5: Ratiopharm - Nancy 90-73

There was no surprise when 5th ranked French Sluc Nancy (1-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked German ratiopharm Ulm (3-2) 90-73 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by ratiopharm Ulm. Sluc Nancy was better in third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ratiopharm Ulm won last quarter 34-18. It was a great shooting night for ratiopharm Ulm especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard DeAndre Kane (193-89, college: Iowa St.) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. Forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 18 points. Power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: S.Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman James Bell (198-92, college: Villanova) added 23 points respectively for the guests. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. ratiopharm Ulm maintains third place in Group C with 3-2 record having just -8 point less than leader Dolomiti En. TR. Loser Sluc Nancy keeps the fifth position with four games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will face Umana Venezia (#4) on the road in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against the league's leader Valencia Basket and hope to win that game.
