Regular Season Round 6: Aris - Trabzonspor 78-70

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Greek Aris as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group D. Aris defeated one of their biggest challengers Turkish Trabzonspor in Thessaloniki 78-70. It was a key game for the top position in Group D. The game without a history. Aris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. 29 personal fouls committed by Trabzonspor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Thodoris Zaras (197-88) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. American forward Jamelle Hagins (206-90, college: Delaware) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American-Congolese point guard Dwight Hardy (188-87, college: St.John's) replied with 20 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American point guard Darius Johnson-Odom (187-89, college: Marquette, agency: Beo Basket) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Trabzonspor. Four Trabzonspor players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Unics. Trabzonspor at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Banvit BK. Trabzonspor will play next round against Steaua CSM trying to get back on the winning streak. Aris will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Buducnost in Podgorica.
