Very important is a road loss of third ranked German ratiopharm Ulm (3-3) against fourth ranked Italian Umana Venezia (3-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting ratiopharm Ulm was defeated by Umana Venezia in Venezia 90-78. ratiopharm Ulm was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Umana Venezia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Phil Goss (188-83, college: Drexel) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Greek swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Umana Venezia's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Raymar Morgan (202-88, college: Michigan St.) replied with 23 points and his fellow American import guard DeAndre Kane (193-89, college: Iowa St.) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for ratiopharm Ulm. Umana Venezia moved-up to third place in Group C, which they share with Ratiopharm. Umana Venezia will face Sluc Nancy (#5) on the road in the next round. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Spirou Charleroi and hope to win that game.
