Regular Season Round 6: Spirou - CAI Zaragoza 80-69

There was an upset when second-best Spanish CAI Zaragoza (4-2) lost on the road to sixth ranked Belgian Spirou Charleroi (1-5) 80-69 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Spirou Charleroi. CAI Zaragoza was better in third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CAI Zaragoza was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 assists. The other American import guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Five Spirou Charleroi players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: Beo Basket) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for CAI Zaragoza. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Spirou Charleroi left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with Nancy. Loser CAI Zaragoza keeps the second position with two games lost. Spirou Charleroi will face higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CAI Zaragoza will play against the league's leader Valencia Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
