Regular Season Round 6: Steaua CSM - Unics 71-88

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Russian Unics Kazan (4-2) beat 6th ranked Romanian Steaua CSM (2-4) in Bucuresti 88-71 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-71. Unics Kazan made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American-Turkish Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (211-87, college: Radford) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 14 points and Finnish-American center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Steaua CSM. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unics Kazan maintains first position in Group D with 4-2 record, which they share with Aris. Loser Steaua CSM dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Unics Kazan will face Banvit BK (#4) in Balikesir in the next round. Steaua CSM will play on the road against Trabzonspor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
