Regular Season Round 7: Neptunas - Hapoel J-M 87-85

Everything went according to plan in Klaipeda where third ranked Lithuanian Neptunas (4-3) edged 5th ranked Israeli Hapoel Jerusalem (2-5) 87-85 on Tuesday. Hapoel Jerusalem cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. It was a great evening for American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import guard Travis Bader (196-91, college: Oakland) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American-Israeli center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Neptunas and four Hapoel Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Neptunas moved-up to second place in Group F, which they share with AEK Athens and N.Novgorod. Defending Israeli champion Hapoel Jerusalem keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Neptunas will face bottom-ranked Krasny Oktyabr (#6) in Volgograd in the next round. Hapoel Jerusalem will play at home against the league's leader Galatasaray and hope to win that game.
