Regular Season Round 7: CAI Zaragoza - Valencia 76-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with their biggest opponent CAI Zaragoza's (4-3) home loss to leader Valencia Basket (7-0) 76-84 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CAI Zaragoza won fourth quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU, agency: Priority Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89, agency: Comsport) helped adding 15 points. At the losing side Dutch center Henk Norel (214-87) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Montenegrin-American forward Halil Kanacevic (203-91, college: St.Joseph's) scored 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group C with 7-0 record. Loser CAI Zaragoza keeps the second position with three games lost. Valencia Basket will face ratiopharm Ulm (#4) at home in the next round. CAI Zaragoza will play against Sluc Nancy and hope to win that game.
