Regular Season Round 7: Ludwigsburg - Gran Canaria 92-89 OT

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Spanish G.Canaria 2014 (5-2) on the court of second ranked German EnBW Ludwigsburg. Visitors were edged by EnBW Ludwigsburg in overtime 92-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of G.Canaria 2014. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. The hosts were tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They eventually won an overtime period 11-8. EnBW Ludwigsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to G.Canaria 2014's 30 and made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Mustafa Shakur (192-84, college: Arizona, agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jon Brockman (201-87, college: Washington) accounted for 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. Canadian guard Kevin Pangos (189-93, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) came up with 31 points and 6 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Australian swingman Brad Newley (199-85, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for G.Canaria 2014 in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. EnBW Ludwigsburg have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with defeated G.Canaria 2014. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against Grissin Bon RE (#4) in Reggio Emilia in the next round. G.Canaria 2014 will play on the road against Enel Brindisi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
