Regular Season Round 7: Trabzonspor - Steaua CSM 82-67

Rather predictable result when third ranked Turkish Trabzonspor (4-3) defeated at home bottom-ranked Romanian Steaua CSM (2-5) 82-67 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Trabzonspor. Steaua CSM was better in fourth quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trabzonspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Croatian-Bosnian center Andrija Stipanovic (209-86, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian forward Novica Velickovic (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Trabzonspor's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Finnish-American center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. Trabzonspor moved-up to second place in Group D, which they share with Aris. Loser Steaua CSM dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Trabzonspor will face Buducnost (#4) in Podgorica in the next round. Steaua CSM will play on the road against Banvit BK in Balikesir and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
