Regular Season Round 7: Nancy - Umana VE 62-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked French Sluc Nancy's (1-6) home loss to fourth ranked Italian Umana Venezia (4-3) 62-71 on Wednesday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-15. But Sluc Nancy won second period 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Greek swingman Michael Bramos (196-87, college: Miami, OH) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 6 rebounds. Austrian power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St.) helped adding 12 points. Umana Venezia's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: Beo Basket) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: S.Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Umana Venezia moved-up to second place in Group C, which they share with CAI Zaragoza. Sluc Nancy lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Umana Venezia will face Spirou Charleroi (#5) on the road in the next round. Sluc Nancy will play against the league's second-placed CAI Zaragoza and hope to win that game.
