Regular Season Round 8: Dominion BB - EWE Baskets 73-68

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish Bilbao Basket as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Bilbao Basket defeated 4th ranked German EWE Baskets at home 73-68. EWE Baskets were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 27-11 third quarter run of Bilbao Basket. They outrebounded EWE Baskets 37-22 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Greek center Giorgos Bogris (210-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points and 14 rebounds. Latvian Dairis Bertans (194-89) contributed with 15 points for the winners. American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import Vaughn Duggins (190-87, college: Wright St.) added 18 points in the effort for EWE Baskets. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bilbao Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Dolomiti En. TR. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Nanterre. Just two games before the end of Regular Season and it may be the most important game of the season next round when EWE Baskets faces JSF Nanterre trying to get back on the winning streak. Bilbao Basket will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Un.Olimpija at Ljubljana.
