Regular Season Round 4: Uniao Sportiva - UNI Gyor 72-49

Not a big story in a game when 4th ranked Hungarian UNI Gyor (0-4) was outscored by top-ranked Portuguese Uniao Sportiva (4-0) in Ponta Delgada 72-49 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Uniao Sportiva led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding UNI Gyor to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded UNI Gyor 35-22 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Uniao Sportiva looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Quite impressive performance for American forward Ashley Bruner (183, college: S.Carolina, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. The other American import guard Shaqwedia Wallace (175-89, college: Temple) contributed with 18 points, 6 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Four Uniao Sportiva players scored in double figures. Lithuanian Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) replied with 4 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian point guard Tamara Radocaj (170-87, agency: Interperformances) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for UNI Gyor. UNI Gyor's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Uniao Sportiva have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Portuguese champion maintains first position in Group H with 4-0 record. Loser UNI Gyor still closes the standings with four games lost. Uniao Sportiva will face Angers (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. UNI Gyor will play against the league's second-placed Belfius Namur and hopes to get finally their first victory.
