Regular Season Round 9: Galatasaray - Krasny Oktyabr 103-76

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Russian Krasny Oktyabr (1-8) was outleveled by first ranked Turkish Galatasaray (7-2) in Istanbul 103-76 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Krasny Oktyabr's 46. Galatasaray forced 23 Krasny Oktyabr turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Goksenin Koksal (195-91) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Dmitry Sokolov (214-85, agency: Alti Sport) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and guard Vyacheslav Zaytsev (191-89, agency: Alti Sport) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Krasny Oktyabr. Galatasaray maintains first place in Group F with 7-2 record. Krasny Oktyabr lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Galatasaray will face BC Nizhny Novgorod (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Krasny Oktyabr will play against Hapoel Jerusalem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
