Regular Season Round 9: Le Mans - Grissin Bon RE 71-87

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked French Le Mans (3-6) lost at home to second ranked Italian Grissin Bon RE (6-3) 87-71 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Grissin Bon RE led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Le Mans' players. It was a good game for Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Forward Achille Polonara (203-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Grissin Bon RE players scored in double figures. American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) answered with 24 points and 4 assists and Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (204-90, college: Villanova) added 6 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Le Mans. Grissin Bon RE have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group B with 6-3 record having just -15 point less than leader Bilbao Basket, which they share with Ludwigsburg. Le Mans at the other side keep the fifth position with six games lost. Grissin Bon RE will face league's leader G.Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Le Mans will play on the road against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
