Regular Season Round 5: TTT Riga - Udominate 79-57

Rather predictable result when first ranked Latvian TTT Riga (4-1) smashed at home 4th placed Swedish Udominate (0-5) 79-57 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by TTT Riga. Udominate was better in third quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TTT Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Udominate's 22 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Udominate 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. TTT Riga looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when TTT Riga made 9 blocks. American point guard Sydney Carter (170-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: Ronsport) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and center Zenta Melnika (197-91) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four TTT Riga players scored in double figures. TTT Riga's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Finnish forward Krista Gross (183-90, college: N.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Hollie Mershon (178-90, college: Drexel, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Defending Latvian champion maintains first place in Group B with 4-1 record. Loser Udominate still closes the standings with five games lost. TTT Riga will face Dynamo Moscow (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Udominate will play against the league's second-placed Orduspor and hopes to get finally their first victory.
