Regular Season Round 4: Gran Canaria - Lietkabelis 86-67

An exciting game was played in Las Palmas. Top-ranked Spanish Gran Canaria faced 3rd ranked Lithuania Lietkabelis. Host Gran Canaria (3-0) smashed guests from Panevezys (2-2) 86-67. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. Lietkabelis was better in second period 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lietkabelis' 28. Gran Canaria forced 19 Lietkabelis turnovers and outrebounded them 42-21 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gran Canaria players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Lietkabelis were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of FYR Macedonia-American point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 5 assists. American Royce O'Neale (198-93, college: Baylor) contributed with 7 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Lorenzo Williams (190-84, college: Rice) replied with 12 points and center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lietkabelis. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gran Canaria maintains first position in Group A with 3-0 record. Lietkabelis at the other side stay at the bottom place with two games lost. Gran Canaria will play against MZT Skopje (#5) on the road in the next round. Lietkabelis will have a break next round.
