Regular Season Round 2: Maccabi Ashdod - H-Sirenos 84-65

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Israeli Maccabi Ashdod's (2-0) home victory over Lithuania Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (0-2) 84-65 on Thursday. The game without a history. Maccabi Ashdod led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas' 40. Maccabi Ashdod forced 21 Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American center Tiffany Jackson (191-85, college: Texas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. Swedish Abdi Farhiya (188-92) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. American forward Tori Jarosz (190-92, college: Marist, agency: Gamble Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Rasa Zemantauskaite-Matla (176-81) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas. Maccabi Ashdod will face Cegledi EKK at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will play against Spartak Vidnoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
