Rather expected game in Ponta Delgada where Portuguese Uniao Sportiva (0-3) was crushed by Spanish Argon Uni Girona (3-0) 81-54 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Argon Uni Girona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Uniao Sportiva's 24. They outrebounded Uniao Sportiva 43-25 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Argon Uni Girona looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Nigeria-American Ifunanya Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Roso Buch (179-92) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. Argon Uni Girona's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian swingman Anna Olkhovyk (188-87, agency: Promotex) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Jasmine Crew (170-89, college: Seton Hall) scored 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Argon Uni Girona will have a break next round. Uniao Sportiva will play at home against Castors Braine (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
