Regular Season Round 9: MZT Skopje - N.Novgorod 82-97

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked FYR Macedonian MZT Skopje (0-7) was defeated at home by third ranked Russian BC Nizhny Novgorod (4-3) 97-82 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by BC Nizhny Novgorod. MZT Skopje was better in third quarter 29-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Nizhny Novgorod shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. American guard DeAndre Kane (193-89, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Croatian power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90) chipped in 12 points. BC Nizhny Novgorod's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Octagon Europe) with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Croatian center Jure Lalic (211-86) scored 23 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Five BC Nizhny Novgorod and four MZT Skopje players scored in double figures. BC Nizhny Novgorod maintains third place in Group A with 4-3 record having just two points less than leader Gran Canaria. MZT Skopje lost their seventh game in a row. Defending FYR Macedonian champion still closes the standings with seven games lost. BC Nizhny Novgorod will face league's second-placed Cedevita in Zagreb in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MZT Skopje will play on the road against the league's leader Gran Canaria in Las Palmas and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
