Regular Season Round 9: Un.Olimpija - Valencia 72-75

Fifth-ranked Slovenian Un.Olimpija (1-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (6-1) in Ljubljana on Wednesday. The visitors from Valencia managed to secure only three-point victory 75-72. However their fans expected much easier game. Un.Olimpija trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 20-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-75 at the end of the game. American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Gregor Hrovat (196-94) with 18 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Montenegrin center Stevan Milosevic (211-85, agency: Interperformances) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group D with 6-1 record. Un.Olimpija at the other side stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Valencia Basket are looking forward to face Lokomotiv (#4) in Kuban in the next round. Un.Olimpija will have a break next round.
