Regular Season Round 5: Abdullah Gul - PEAC-Pecs 74-73

Important game to mention about took place in Kayseri. Leader Turkish Abdullah Gul (5-0) saved a 1-point victory at home edging second-ranked Hungarian PEAC-Pecs (2-3) 74-73 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PEAC-Pecs. PEAC-Pecs were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 20-16 charge of Abdullah Gul, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 PEAC-Pecs turnovers and outrebounded them 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American guard Chelsea Gray (180-92, college: Duke) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 assists for the winners and Tanisha Wright (180-83, college: Penn St., agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Serbian point guard Sanja Mandic (178-95, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 18 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Zsofia Licskai (189-93) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four PEAC-Pecs players scored in double figures. Abdullah Gul have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 5-0 record. PEAC-Pecs at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Abdullah Gul will play against league's second-placed MBA in Moscow in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PEAC-Pecs' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Pecs PINKK-Pecsi.
