Regular Season Round 5: Landes - Venezia 83-80

A very close game took place in Mont de Marsan between French Basket Landes and Italian Venezia. Third ranked Basket Landes (2-3) got a very close home victory over second-ranked Venezia (3-2). Basket Landes managed to escape with a 3-point win 83-80 on Wednesday evening. Celine Dumerc (169-82) nailed 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds. Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (190-86, agency: LBM Management) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Venezia in the defeat. Four Basket Landes and five Venezia players scored in double figures. Venezia's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Basket Landes maintains third place in Group G with 2-3 record having just seven point less than leader Basket Gdynia. Loser Venezia keeps the second position with two games lost. Basket Landes will meet at home Fribourg (#4) in the next round. Venezia will play against the league's leader Nice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
