Regular Season Round 10: Zenit - Unicaja 82-72

An exciting game was played in Saint Petersburg. First ranked Russian Zenit faced 3rd ranked Spanish Unicaja Malaga. Host Zenit (6-2) defeated guests from Malaga (4-4) 82-72. Unicaja Malaga was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zenit forced 19 Unicaja Malaga turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Latvian Janis Timma (201-92) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners. American Aaron White (206-92, college: Iowa) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: Inception Sports) produced 19 points and Serbian center Dejan Musli (213-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zenit maintains first position in Group C with 6-2 record. Loser Unicaja Malaga keeps the third place with four games lost.
