Regular Season Round 6: Venezia - Nice 65-42

There was a change at the Eurocup leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader French Nice (4-2). They were crushed by second ranked Italian Venezia (4-2) 65-42 on Wednesday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group G. The game without a history. Venezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nice to just 7 points in third quarter. Venezia held Nice to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.8 percent accuracy of the winners and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Venezia forced 21 Nice turnovers. American point guard Ashleigh Fontenette (172-89, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Slovakian center Marie Ruzickova (190-86, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU, agency: Two Points) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import power forward Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Venezia keeps a position of Group G leader.
