Second Stage Round 3: N.Novgorod - Lietuvos rytas 63-97

There was a minor upset when Russian BC Nizhny Novgorod (1-2) was smashed at home by Lithuanian Lietuvos rytas (1-2) 97-63 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 6 assists. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Petr Gubanov (206-87, agency: Alti Sport) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and American guard DeAndre Kane (193-89, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for BC Nizhny Novgorod. Five BC Nizhny Novgorod players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play again on the road against Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
