Second Stage Round 4: Cedevita - ALBA 99-83

Very important is a road loss of third ranked German ALBA Berlin (1-3) against fourth ranked Croatian Cedevita (1-3) on Wednesday night. Visiting ALBA Berlin was defeated by Cedevita in Zagreb 99-83. The game without a history. Cedevita led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Cedevita forced 25 ALBA Berlin turnovers. Strangely ALBA Berlin outrebounded Cedevita 30-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. ALBA Berlin was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Ra'shad James (188-90, college: Kaiser) who added 19 points during the contest. At the losing side Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanovic (211-88, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Peyton Siva (183-90, college: Louisville) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Croatian champion left bottom position moving up to third place in Group H, which they share with ALBA. Cedevita will face league's leader Valencia Basket on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. ALBA Berlin will play against the league's second-placed Unicaja Malaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
