Regular Season Round 1: Hatay - Piestanske C. 82-58

Hatay used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Piestany 82-58 on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Hatay. Piestanske C. was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Piestanske C. 44-25 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hatay looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds for the winners (made all of her nine free throws !!!). Belgian point guard Hind Ben-Abdelkader (172-95, college: California) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hatay players scored in double figures. Center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) produced 10 points and 9 rebounds and Czech guard Lenka Bartakova (175-91) added 9 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hatay will face Sf.Gheorghe (#4) in Sfantu Gheorghe in the next round. Piestanske C. will play at home against Energa Torun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
