Regular Season Round 4: Tofas - ASVEL 82-81

There was a change at the Eurocup leadership position after last games. Round 4 most important game was a defeat of league's leader French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (2-2). They were edged by second ranked Turkish Tofas (3-1) 82-81 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. It was a key game for the top position in Group D. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won third quarter 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Raymar Morgan (203-88, college: Michigan St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) who added 12 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard John Roberson (180-88, college: Texas Tech) responded with 19 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman David Lighty (195-88, college: Ohio St.) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Tofas have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group D leader. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Darussafaka. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play next round against strong Gran Canaria trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tofas will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Zenit in Saint Petersburg.
