Eurocup
Regular Season Round 4: Galatasaray - Lietkabelis 73-78
Date: November 1, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where bottom-ranked Turkish Galatasaray (0-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (2-2) 78-73 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lietkabelis made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian swingman Zanis Peineris (203-90) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American DaJuan Summers (203-88, college: Georgetown, agency: GFSG) responded with 20 points and his fellow American import swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lietkabelis moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Grissin Bon RE. Loser Galatasaray still closes the standings with four games lost. Lietkabelis will face league's second-placed Buducnost in Podgorica in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galatasaray will play on the road against Hapoel Jerusalem (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
