Regular Season Round 4: Artego Bydg. - MBA 78-65

Everything could happen in Bydgoszcz at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked Polish Artego Bydg. and their biggest opponent Russian MBA had identical 2-1 record. This time Artego Bydg. used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Moscow 78-65 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group C. The game was mostly controlled by Artego Bydg.. MBA was better in second period 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Artego Bydg. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to MBA's 30. They outrebounded MBA 42-28 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Artego Bydg. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Puerto Rican point guard Jennifer O'Neill (165-90, college: Kentucky) fired 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Polish point guard Julie McBride (163-82, college: Syracuse) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Artego Bydg. players scored in double figures. Ekaterina Sytnyak (185-82, agency: LBM Management) produced 18 points and point guard Karina Nizamova (170-92) added 16 points respectively for lost side. MBA's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Artego Bydg. maintains first position in Group C with 3-1 record. Loser MBA stay at the bottom place with two games lost. Artego Bydg. will face Udominate (#3) in Umea in the next round, which may be the game of the day. MBA will play on the road against Spartak Vidnoye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
