Regular Season Round 6: Partizan NIS - ALBA 80-96

Everything went according to plan when second ranked German ALBA Berlin (5-1) defeated bottom-ranked Serbian Partizan (1-5) in Beograd 96-80 on Tuesday. The game without a history. ALBA Berlin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Partizan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 rebounds. American swingman Spencer Butterfield (190-92, college: Utah St., agency: 3Eye) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American point guard Patrick Miller (185-92, college: Tennessee St.) replied with 16 points and 6 assists and Serbian Vanja Marinkovic (198-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 18 points in the effort for Partizan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. ALBA Berlin have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group C with 5-1 record behind leader Darussafaka. Loser Partizan stay at the bottom place with five games lost. ALBA Berlin will face league's leader Lokomotiv in Krasnodar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Partizan will play on the road against Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
