Regular Season Round 6: Tofas - Ratiopharm 100-84

There was no surprise when 5th ranked German ratiopharm Ulm (2-4) lost to second ranked Turkish Tofas (4-2) in Bursa 84-100 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Tofas's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-17 extending their advantage to 16 points. They also forced 19 ratiopharm Ulm turnovers. Strangely ratiopharm Ulm outrebounded Tofas 33-20 including 21 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Tofas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Tony Crocker (200-87, college: Oklahoma, agency: GFSG) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five Tofas players scored in double figures. Forward DaSean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Joseph Lewis (188-92, college: Louisville) added 16 points in the effort for ratiopharm Ulm. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tofas keep a position of Group D leader, which they share with Zenit. ratiopharm Ulm lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with four games lost. Tofas will face Gran Canaria (#3) in Las Palmas in the next round, which may be the game of the day. ratiopharm Ulm will play at home against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
