Regular Season Round 7: ALBA - Lokomotiv 84-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with leader Russian Lokomotiv's (7-0) road victory over their biggest opponent German ALBA Berlin (5-2) 89-84 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-84. Lokomotiv made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Lokomotiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Australian-Dutch forward Ryan Broekhoff (197-90, college: Valparaiso) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Mardy Collins (196-84, college: Temple) helped adding 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side American center Dennis Clifford (216-92, college: Boston Coll.) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) scored 16 points. Four Lokomotiv and five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Lokomotiv. They maintain first place in Group C with 7-0 record. Loser ALBA Berlin keeps the second position with two games lost. Lokomotiv will face Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius in the next round, which may be the game of the day. ALBA Berlin will play at home against Limoges CSP Elite and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
