Regular Season Round 7: Levallois - Unics 67-77

Very expected game when 6th ranked French Paris-Levallois (1-6) were defeated at home by second ranked Russian Unics Kazan (5-2) 77-67 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Unics Kazan. Paris-Levallois was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Paris-Levallois 41-21 including 30 on the defensive glass. Paris-Levallois were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Spanish guard Joaquin Colom (188-88, college: Forca Lleida, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Gabonese forward Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Boris Diaw (203-82) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Travis Leslie (193-90, college: Georgia, agency: 3Eye) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Unics Kazan. They maintain second place in Group A with 5-2 record behind leader Darussafaka. Loser Paris-Levallois keep the sixth position with six games lost. Unics Kazan will face league's leader Darussafaka in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Paris-Levallois will play on the road against Fiat TO (#4) in Torino and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
