Regular Season Round 9: Darussafaka - Fiat TO 75-77

Leading Turkish Darussafaka (7-2) recorded its second loss in Istanbul on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked Italian Fiat TO (5-4) 77-75. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-16. But Darussafaka won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fiat TO forced 20 Darussafaka turnovers. Strangely Darussafaka outrebounded Fiat TO 37-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) came up with 22 points and Cuban forward Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Darussafaka in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Fiat TO moved-up to third place in Group A. Darussafaka at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Fiat TO will meet at home league's second-placed Unics Kazan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Darussafaka will play against Andorra and hope to secure a win.
