Regular Season Round 10: Fiat TO - Unics 72-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Russian Unics Kazan's (7-3) road victory over 3rd ranked Italian Fiat TO (5-5) 79-72 on Tuesday. Fiat TO trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-79 at the end of the game. Unics Kazan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Fiat TO's 36. Canadian-Nigerian forward Melvin Ejim (201-91, college: Iowa St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Gabonese forward Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) chipped in 16 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Deron Washington (201-85, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unics Kazan maintains second position in Group A with 7-3 record behind leader Darussafaka, which they share with ASVEL. Loser Fiat TO dropped to the fourth place with five games lost.
