Regular Season Round 3: Valencia - Partizan NIS 79-71

There was no surprise when Serbian Partizan (1-2) was defeated on the road by Spanish Valencia Basket (3-0) 79-71 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-71. It was a great evening for American center Mike Tobey (212-94, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds. American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) helped adding 17 points. Valencia Basket's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Marcus Paige (184-93, college: N.Carolina) with 14 points and Slovenian point guard Aleksej Nikolic (191-95) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Valencia Basket will face Zenit (#3) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Partizan will play at home against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
