The biggest surprise took place in Malaga where host Spanish Unicaja Malaga (3-1) edged league's leader Russian Unics Kazan (3-1) 82-80 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Unics Kazan. It was a key game for the top position in Group D. 27 personal fouls committed by Unics Kazan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) fired 23 points and 7 assists for the winners. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import guard Trent Lockett (196-90, college: Marquette) added 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Four Unics Kazan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Unicaja Malaga have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group D leader, which they share with Unics and Fraport SKY. Unics Kazan will play next round against strong Deutsche Bank Skyliners trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Unicaja Malaga will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Fiat TO in Torino.
