Regular Season Round 4: Germani BR - Crvena Zvezda 69-61

Undefeated Serbian Crvena Zvezda (3-1) recorded its first loss in Brescia. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Italian Germani BR (1-3) 69-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Crvena Zvezda. It looked good early as Crvena Zvezda took a 16-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Germani BR took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Crvena Zvezda to just 7 points in second quarter. Germani BR made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Crvena Zvezda 35-24 including 22 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gerald Beverly (202-93, college: Daemen) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. The other American import David Moss (196-83, college: Indiana St.) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 22 points and Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (207-85, college: SMU) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Crvena Zvezda. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Germani BR left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Ratiopharm. Defending Serbian champion Crvena Zvezda still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Monaco. Germani BR will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#5) on the road in the next round. Crvena Zvezda will play against Galatasaray (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
