Regular Season Round 1: MBA - Energa Torun 86-82

MBA used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Torun 86-82 on Thursday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-16. But Energa Torun won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when MBA won last quarter 27-25. They made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for point guard Karina Nizamova (170-92) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 assists (made all of her seven free throws). Ekaterina Sytnyak (185-82, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Lithuanian power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) added 20 points in the effort for Energa Torun. Four MBA and five Energa Torun players scored in double figures. MBA will face Niki Lefkadas (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Energa Torun will play against Galatasaray and hope to win that game.
