Regular Season Round 5: Crvena Zvezda - Galatasaray 87-57
Date: October 30, 2018
Rather expected game when 3rd placed Turkish Galatasaray (2-3) was smashed by first ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (4-1) in Beograd 87-57 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Crvena Zvezda led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Galatasaray was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Four Crvena Zvezda players scored in double figures. Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and New Zealand guard Tai-Jack Webster (193-95, college: Nebraska) added 16 points in the effort for Galatasaray. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Serbian champion maintains first place in Group A with 4-1 record, which they share with Monaco. Loser Galatasaray keeps the third position with three games lost. Crvena Zvezda will face ratiopharm Ulm (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Galatasaray will play against Andorra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
