Regular Season Round 2: Niki Lefkadas - MBA 56-82

Not a big story in a game when Greek Niki Lefkadas (0-2) were rolled over at home by Russian MBA (2-0) 82-56 on Wednesday. The game without a history. MBA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. MBA outrebounded Niki Lefkadas 49-33 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Niki Lefkadas' players. Point guard Karina Nizamova (170-92) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and center Nina Glonti (188-97) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four MBA players scored in double figures. MBA's coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Jade Walker (185, college: St.John's) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Whitney Knight (190-93, college: FGCU) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. MBA will face Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niki Lefkadas will play at home against Energa Torun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
