Important game to mention about took place in Kazan. Second ranked Russian Unics Kazan (4-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 3rd placed German Deutsche Bank Skyliners (3-2) 83-80 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Deutsche Bank Skyliners. It was a key game for the top position in Group D. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-17 Deutsche Bank Skyliners' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-80 at the end of the game. Unics Kazan dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Deutsche Bank Skyliners' 26. American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists. Canadian Brady Heslip (188-90, college: Baylor) responded with 25 points and American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Unics Kazan keeps a position of Group D leader, which they share with Unicaja. Deutsche Bank Skyliners at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Rytas. Unics Kazan will play against Mornar Bar (#5) at home in the next round. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play against Fiat TO in Torino and hope to get back on the winning track.
