Regular Season Round 5: Turk Telekom - Partizan NIS 77-72

Everything could happen in Ankara at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Turkish Turk Telekom and 5th ranked Serbian Partizan had identical 1-3 record. This time Turk Telekom used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Beograd 77-72 on Wednesday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But Partizan won third quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Partizan was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. American Kenny Gabriel (209-89, college: Auburn) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Vanja Marinkovic (197-97, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 28 points and 5 assists and Australian center Jock Landale (211-95, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 8 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Partizan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Turk Telekom maintains fourth place in Group C with 2-3 record. Partizan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. Turk Telekom will face higher ranked Zenit (#3) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Partizan will play at home against Dolomiti En. TR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
