Regular Season Round 2: KP Brno - Venezia 66-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Italian Venezia (1-1) was edged on the road by Czech KP Brno (1-1) 66-64 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Venezia won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: Two Points) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Michaela Stara (175-90) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Martina Bestagno (189-90, agency: Two Points) responded with 16 points and American-Hungarian forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Venezia's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. KP Brno will face Nantes Reze (#4) at home in the next round. Venezia will play against Miskolc and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
