Regular Season Round 2: Nantes - Miskolc 87-97

Everything went according to plan when Hungarian Miskolc (2-0) beat on the road French Nantes Reze (0-2) 97-87 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Miskolc. Nantes Reze was better in second period 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Miskolc forced 19 Nantes Reze turnovers. Strangely Nantes Reze outrebounded Miskolc 39-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Miskolc especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Nantes Reze's players. Nantes Reze was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Dora Medgyessy (174-86) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds, 17 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (180-96, college: Maryland) chipped in 25 points and 4 steals during the contest. Five Miskolc players scored in double figures. Miskolc's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Spanish point guard Ana Suarez (170-87, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 28 points and 8 assists and forward Maud Medenou (189-90) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Miskolc will face Venezia (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Nantes Reze will play against KP Brno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
